Läppärin suojapussi

No niin, hypätäänpä välillä taas vähän toisenlaisiin puuhasteluihin. Sain töissä uuden läppärin, joka on sen verran pieni, että vanha kantalaukku on armottoman iso. Päätin sitten tekaista koneelle suojapussin ihan omin pikkukätösin, kun kone on kokoa "mahtuu käsilaukkuun".

Ok, today I'm sharing with you some handicrafts... I got a new laptop at work and it's so small that my old laptop bag is way too big for it. So I decided to make a small bag for the laptop by myself.

Kaapista löytyi Marimekon mustavalkeaa kangasta palanen ja eteisen penkin verhoilusta oli jäänyt yli juuri sopiva määrä vanua. Leikkasin ensin kankaasta kaksi toisiinsa sopivaa kaistaletta, mutta toisen jätin reilusti pidemmäksi, jotta saan siitä tehtyä läpän pussille. Ompelin vanulevyn ensin kangaspalojen väliin, taitoin kankaista pussin ja ompelin sivusaumat yhteen. Toisen kangaspalan ylimääräisen pätkän taitoin ja ompelin yllä näkyvään muotoon ja taitoin pussin päälle läpäksi. Ompelin läppään pätkän valkoista satiininauhaa kiinnityslenkiksi ja pussiin ompelin kirkkaan napin, jonka ympärille lenkin saa pujotettua.

I had some Marimekko fabric in my cupboard - left over ages ago from another project. I also had some padding material, which was left over when I upholstered a bench in our hallway. So I first cut two pieces of the fabric. The other one was the size of the laptop when folded in two (plus of course some extra for seam allowance), the other a bit longer so that I could make a leaf covering the opening of the bag. (Do you call that a leaf in English? Could some native speaker please let me know!?) I put the padding in between the two fabric pieces and sewed them together. Then I folded the fabrics in two to make kind of a pocket and sewed the side seams. I folded and sewed the extra fabric without padding as you can see in the pic above to make a leaf for the bag. I used a piece of white ribbon and a clear button to fasten the leaf when the laptop is inside.

Tässä on kuva pussin sisuksesta, tosin näkyy ihan hävettävän huonosti. Läppäri on tuolla pussissa sisällä, vaikka ei juuri erotu kuvasta.

Pussin takapuoli on ihan sileä - tuo puukuva pääsee siellä kivasti oikeuksiinsa. Näin päin tämä näyttää melkein tyynyltä. :) Eihän tämä mikään varsinainen suojalaukku ole, mutta suojaa kuitenkin konetta jonkin verran ja mahtuu tosiaan mun isoon käsiveskaan, joten konetta on näppärä kuljettaa mukana.

This is the back of the bag, showing the print in the fabric nicely. I think this looks almost as a decorative pillow. :) Of course this is not a proper laptop bag with heavy padding, but it's better than nothing and as this fits in my big handbag, it's handy to carry the laptop with me.
